Private insurance is good if you can afford it or have an employer who will pay for it or you don't have preexisting conditions!!! I am on Social Security and I cannot afford medicare because I still have to pay a huge copay because I have preexisting conditions- I ask you: who doesn't have preexisting conditions by age 62 if you have had to work hard all your life?? As a former small businessman who fully insured his employees for 28 years, paying that cost that rose at 3 times the general inflation rate was killing my business and helped bring it to an end. It's great the Senator Merkley is working to help; now maybe Senator Wyden can also jump on board to help the typical Oregonian instead of the insurance oligarchs with his Healthy Americans Act! Wow, Senator Merkley is really going to helpr the people of Oregon when he supports public health care!
